Golfport was absolutely amazing. We got back late last night from our ride home. That was possibly one of the most well-spent weeks of my life. To be able to make a difference in so many people's lives on a daily basis was such a gift from God. So...yeah. it was awesome. What did I miss while I was gone?
the B and I are leaving tomorrow morning. and by morning I mean like at 5:45. Yeah, that means getting UP at 4:45. So....I prolly won't be posting until we get back the following saturday.
For those who don't know, we're going down to Gulfport, MS to work with our church along with others in rebuilding homes that are still suffering in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina. If any of y'all would be willing, it would be great to know we are spiritualy supported from home. Below are a few things we would really appreciate if y'all kept in your prayers:
That everyone will be kept healthy (Specifically concerning allergies and illnesses we will be exposed to) and safe during construction, especially those working on the rooftops and with the chainsaw crews.
That God will prepare the hearts of those whom we will be serving and that our hearts will be ready to share His love with them.
That we will be blessed with team unity and that we will experience a real bonding with the other churches we will be working alongside.
That our faith will remain strong in God and that through Him we will be able to change the lives of those we will be serving.
That we will have safe travels in our drive down to the damage area (we will be on the road for a total of 16 hours, not counting stops)
If y'all could keep another personal thing in mind, I went to the doctor a few days back and my asthema has significantly worsened. Like as in my lung capacity has gone down 20%, so he's sending me with an epipen and another inhaler. So...if y'all could pray that my asthema doesn't cause problems, that would be awesome. 'Cause there is a huge mold content down there and mold is one of my biggest allergies. So...cha.
Thank you guys so much for everything! Please keep us in your prayers! l8r!
First my dad and I went to the Potomac river and kayaked my first 3/4(My dad thought it was a 4, but I thought 3)-class-rapid. It was awesome. There were several other kayakers who capsizes, but I stayed upright, which was prolly a good thing 'cause I hadn't brought my spray-skirt(Real bright, right? lol.) But it was about 60/70 feet long. We shot it twice. 3/4 of the way through it I would try to eddy(sp?) in behind a rock to wait for dad 'cause I thought it was over, but then I would see some waves approaching and would have to turn real quick to as to not take them side-ways. It was a blast.
After kayaking we went to our friends, the Terryberry's house for a 4th fo July party. It was a blast. We played Apples to Apples and Imagine Iff..., we swam in their pool and had like 5 people on their trampoline sliding everywhere 'cause we were wet from swimming and 'cause it had rained. After that we watched fireworks.
